They’ve provided him with the best footwear a hiker could ask for since 1977! JanSport has also been very supportive and they’ve been donating their great frame packs to Jim’s treks for nearly eighteen years! Again, he’s used several different models over the years, but for the long, more remote treks he’s often used the Nepali, and for the PCT, where supplies were readily available, he used the smaller, Rainer model. Sierra Zip Stoves
Sierra Zip Stoves are amazing little stoves that Jim has used for many years. They work well for a long wilderness hike because they don't use traditional fuel. This is a wood burning stove, using a small battery to power a fan that creates a forge effect while burning tiny twigs, pine cones, and sage brush. It works great even in wet weather.
