On Tour With Walkin' Jim

"Jim Stoltz is a music man of exuberance and passion, with more to say in one song than Frank Sinatra ever managed in a whole bloody concert."

-- Edward Abbey --

Forever Wild

Walkin' Jim’s Multimedia Concerts

Jim has been touring with this folk style, multimedia show, Forever Wild, since 1986. The show combines his live music, stories, and a touch of poetry with beautiful slides taken on his long wilderness treks, weaving and fading into each other in a powerful dance of images.

The photos of the natural world  (wildlife, landscapes, flowers, rivers, etc) fit perfectly with his Earthy lyrics.  The combination of the incredible dual images (using two projectors and a dissolve unit) and the moving songs, results in a powerful, inspirational program. This merging of the media captures the magic and uniqueness of the wild country like no other presentation you’ve seen!

Forever Wild celebrates America’s wild lands, wild waters, and wild lives.  It is a positive, uplifting concert that is often a springboard for promoting consciousness toward the wildlands, deep ecological values, and all facets of environmental awareness. By the end of the show Jim’s audiences feel the connection with all life and are often inspired to help protect the last wild places.

It is a great, non-threatening way to get folks thinking about the Earth and the issues facing our planet.  Throughout the show Jim does a variety of songs (with slides) written in unprotected wild areas.  The majority of the photos in his show are from undesignated wilderness areas.

"Better than postcards, his exquisite photographs led me through the wilderness he walks and illuminated his songs. They danced and dissolved at just the right moment. The timing of the lyrics was almost eerie."

In 1991 Walkin’ Jim received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Environmental Protection Agency. The award reads: "For Sharing Nature and Wilderness With Others Across America Through Your Extraordinary Words, Images, And Music."

In 2006 Jim toured in 49 states doing free concerts, working with hundreds of environmental organizations, performing with dozens of other musicians and authors, all to gain support for clean water, roadless area protection, and endangered species.   The show inspired over 20,000 actions on behalf of the environment.

"He is doing what he can to share what he cares so deeply about. That rich voice of his and thoughtful photography seems to strike a note with anyone lucky enough to see him on stage."

-- Lissa Zielsdorf
